Helen B Ouimette

Helen began her journey by achieving her certification as a Group Fitness and Resistance Training Instructor in 2006 through the YMCA Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  She returned to the United States in 2008 and has continued her Hatha Yoga training and certifications to include and Pilate’s basic mat certification.

In January 2014, she proudly added Thai Yoga Body Therapy to her list of credentials.  This body therapy is an ancient and sacred bodywork incorporating rhythmic motion, energy line work, gentle stretching and assisted yoga posturing into a comprehensive health and wellness modality.

Helen embraced her relocation and achieved additional certification to lead exercise programs targeting our senior population through the Silver Sneakers® fitness program.  She adds this as one of her passions…helping our seniors live a more fit, active and independent lifestyle through participation in the Silver Sneakers® fitness program.

Helen’s yoga practice and teaching continue to drive her. She has furthered her Yoga practice and credentials by achieving a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification thru Yogafit®.  With these certifications, she continues to explore her path of a holistic lifestyle and the growth of wellness.

Since 2012, Helen has provided customized Yoga instruction on a weekly basis as an independent contractor where she provides a customized program specifically designed for individuals with physical and cognitive special needs.  Her work in this area has resulted in several breakthrough events whereby previously unresponsive participants have become aware, engaged and now participate in her weekly Yoga instruction.  This specific work is especially dear to Helen and one which she considers being her most important.

A new journey has occurred with Oncology Yoga. Through the certified program Yoga4cancertm, she is humbled and grateful to help improve the quality of life for cancer patients and survivors. Helen is already a professional certified yoga instructor, and now through her new Yoga4cancertm certification, she can offer yoga classes specific to the needs of cancer survivors and those currently in cancer treatment.

Helen desires above all else to empower people to obtain their own healthy balance of mind, body, and soul. In addition to aiding them with the creation of harmony between themselves and the world around them.
